Summertime in Cape Town: Sunshine, Food, and Endless Adventures

Summertime in Cape Town

Cape Town is truly in its prime—bursting with flavour, vibrant energy, and endless things to enjoy for the festive season.

Recently, crowned the world’s best food city in the Condé Nast Traveller’s Readers’ Choice Awards, our city has much to offer and summertime is the perfect time to explore, unwind, and dive into Cape Town’s incredible offerings, from exceptional dining to memorable local experiences.

Best City for Food:

Cape Town’s food scene is a vibrant blend of the familiar and the new, from long-time local favorites to exciting new restaurants bringing fresh flavours. Whether you’re in the mood for fine dining with scenic views, cozy cafes, or street food at bustling markets, the city offers something for every palate. With a rich variety of cuisines and a constant stream of new spots to explore, Cape Town invites locals (and visitors) to savour its ever-evolving culinary landscape.

Best City for Experiences:

Cape Town’s beauty deserves to be experienced at a thoughtful pace.
We joined Matt from Natural Wonders on a captivating Constantia Wine Walk. Starting at Groot Constantia, South Africa’s oldest vineyard, the walk winds through Klein Constantia and ends at Buitenverwachting with a delicious lunch platter. Along the way, Matt brings the region’s rich history to life, weaving tales of personalities that shaped this iconic valley. And, of course, each stop includes wine tastings, paired with snacks that reflect the flavours of this beautiful area. This is a perfect escape for anyone seeking a meaningful journey through Cape Town’s vineyards.

This exciting pilot project, driven by Young Urbanists and the City of Cape Town, aims to breathe new life into the area, support local businesses, and create a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly space. Join the fun on Bree Street and Shortmarket Street and experience the city’s energy this summer.

Best City for Stay-cations

We recently explored Sterrekopje Farm, a wellness retreat and boutique hotel, located on a 125-acre working, regenerative farm. A magnificent Cape Dutch Heritage property, the hotel comprises just 11 different suites, all exquisitely designed with a stylish farmhouse aesthetic. The sprawling property also includes The Bathhouse – a holistic wellness spa, The Soul Shed, and The Atelier – a creative arts center. A swimming pool, a dedicated kitchen for baking classes, cycling (e-bikes and regular bikes), and hiking are also included. Meals are delicious, fresh, and farm-to-table. While there is a focus on plant-based meals, they include non-vegetarian options for the meat eaters.
