Madikwe Game Reserve is located in the country’s North West province on the border of Botswana. A short 45 minute flight from Johannesburg and easily accessible by car, this lush reserve spans 75 000 hectares. Home to the big 5 and other endangered species in a Malaria-free environment, Madikwe is an ideal African wildlife safari destination for the whole family.
Its unique location, a transition zone on the edges of the Kalahari, provides distinctive game viewing and a habitat where rare species occur naturally. It is known as the only natural meeting place of the Springbok and the Kalahari Gemsbok in Africa. A rich biodiversity of mammals, including Africa’s Magnificent Seven (The Big Five plus cheetah and African wild dog) as well as brown and spotted hyena and oryx, are all found here.
With all the abundant game and over 350 colourful bird species living in this diverse geological environment, Madikwe offers visitors a spectacular, yet safe and convenient African travel experience they won’t soon forget.
