10 NightsDestinations: Kenya, Rwanda
Eric and Vivian wanted to combine luxury, romance and impact on their visit to Kenya and Rwanda; a simple task for our expert travel managers. Exquisite scenery, bucket list experiences and elegant accommodation characterised this couple’s foray into some of Africa’s most magnificent regions, giving them plenty of opportunities for game viewing, photography and meaningfully engaging with the warm, open-hearted people.
Arriving at Jomo Kenyatta Airport, Eric and Vivian enjoyed a VIP meet and greet before being transferred to Wilson Airport for their stay at the Maasai Mara National Reserve’s Angama Mara for five nights in a glass-fronted tented suite. Built on the edge of the Great Rift Valley on one of the most sought-after sites on the continent, Angama Mara offers heart-stopping views as far as the eye can see and a warm Kenyan welcome. The couple could choose from hot air ballooning, walking safaris, garden-to-table lunches in the Shamba, hosted photographic safaris and various interactions with the fascinating Maasai culture that surrounds the lodge – or simply do nothing at all.
After a hearty breakfast at the lodge, the pair checked out and transferred from the lodge to the airstrip for their scheduled shuttle flight to Nairobi and an overnight stay at Hemingways Hotel in a deluxe room.
After breakfast the couple transferred to the airpot, departing Kenya’s Nairobi Airport for Kigali Airport in Rwanda. On arrival they were met by a VIP service representative who escorted them to the lounge for a health and safety briefing, as well as assisting them with customs and immigration procedures and locating their driver-guide in the exit hall. Their guide then took them on a three-hour drive north to the foothills of the Virunga mountains where they checked in at One and Only Gorilla’s Nest for a three-night stay to enjoy the ethereal beauty of the region’s dense rain forests, as well as life-changing gorilla and golden monkey trekking experiences.
On day ten of their trip, Eric and Vivian transferred back to Kigali for their final gorilla trekking encounter. Numbering only about 780 individuals worldwide, gorillas are now listed on the IUCN Red List of critically endangered species. Every gorilla tracking experience contributes directly to the conservation of these special creatures. After their trek, the couple transferred from the hotel to Kigali Marriott hotel to check in for the final night of their African journey.
After a light breakfast at the hotel, the couple was free to explore Kigali until their airport transfer in the early afternoon. A VIP representative met them at the airport to assist them until the departure of their flight, beginning their journey home.
