7 NightsDestination: South Africa
Missy and her family wanted a fun and adventurous trip to suit the whole family. From exploring Cape Town’s rich culture, history, natural beauty and cuisine, their itinerary also featured outdoor adventures including hiking, diving, surfing, snorkelling with seals and much more. They rounded off their seven-night journey with a luxury family safari in the private Sabi Sands Reserve for a top-notch Big 5 safari experience.
Arriving at Cape Town International Airport, the family was met by their local driver-guide in the arrivals hall for their road transfer to the One&Only Hotel for a four-night stay. From a visit to the Simonstown penguin colony to shark cage diving and a hike up Table Mountain, the family also scheduled in leisure time to follow their whims, taking in Camps Bay, the Sea Point Promenade, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and even paragliding off Lion’s Head. Their stay in the Cape also featured a foodie tour, beginning with a single-origin chocolate tasting, followed by a craft beer tasting at Spice Route Estate in Paarl and lunch and a stroll around Franschhoek town. With a myriad of incredible restaurants nearby to their hotel, dinner options could be selected depending on the group’s energy levels and specific culinary cravings.
Day five saw Missy and her family make their way to Londolozi Varty Camp via road transfers and two scheduled flights. With sunrise and sunset games drives daily, all of the lodge’s suites have private swimming pools framed by timber decks that overlook the riverine bush, providing a secluded place to rest and relax in between safari activities. The camp has a pleasingly down-to-earth quality and the emphasis on family heritage means that children always have a place at Varty Camp, also home to the original Sparta Hunting Camp, the cardiovascular room, massage treatment room and wine cellar. In between scrumptious meals, Missy’s family could choose bush walks, time in the photographic studio, a village experience, an inclusive yoga class, high teas or boutique shopping.
After a final safari activity and a tasty breakfast, the family was transferred to the airstrip for their series of flights back home.
